Selected based on long-term, multi-site, peer-reviewed monitoring data from the Port of Rockhampton's reference sites, representing a 'slightly disturbed' but ecologically functional system.

Lower Critical Threshold: null. Upper Detrimental Threshold: 7 NTU. This value aligns with the ecological threshold where severe sublethal stress effects on corals begin, balancing light penetration with photoprotection benefits of natural turbidity. The upper detrimental threshold for turbidity causing probable coral mortality is between 7 and 10 NTU based on WA EPA dredging guidelines.
