Water Turbidity
Benchmark Value
Scoring Curve
This curve shows how a field measurement for this indicator would score across all available benchmark forms in this context. The scoring engine uses 2 benchmarks together — the OptimalRange form drives the primary score, while 1 guard(s) constrain the result.

Evidence & Context
A persistent turbidity >20-25 NTU during low-flow periods is likely to be detrimental.
Water turbidity during low-flow (dry season baseflow) conditions
This benchmark sets a maximum turbidity threshold during low-flow dry season conditions, above which water clarity is likely detrimental to aquatic life in tropical monsoonal savannas under livestock grazing.
Based on observations that light penetration becomes significantly limited above such levels in shallow systems, potentially reducing photosynthesis by benthic algae and submerged macrophytes.
