Soil pH
Benchmark Value
Scoring Curve
This curve shows how a field measurement for this indicator would score across all available benchmark forms in this context. The scoring engine uses 2 benchmarks together — the OptimalRange form drives the primary score, while 1 guard(s) constrain the result.

Evidence & Context
Lower Critical Threshold: A soil pHw below 5.0 (approximately pHCaCl 2 < 4.5) is considered critically low for most savanna soils.
Soil pH measured in a 1:5 soil:water suspension (pHw)
This benchmark marks the critical lower soil pH threshold below which ecosystem health in tropical monsoonal savannas under livestock grazing is significantly impaired.
Below this pH, nutrient availability is severely compromised and toxicities increase, impairing ecosystem function.
