Soil Nitrogen
Benchmark Value
Scoring Curve
This curve shows how a field measurement for this indicator would score across all available benchmark forms in this context.
Evidence & Context
The derived benchmark for the best available condition is 2200 mg/kg of Total Soil Nitrogen.
Total Soil Nitrogen (TSN) in the topsoil (0-10 cm)
This benchmark represents a best-on-offer condition for Total Soil Nitrogen in the topsoil of sustainably grazed temperate grassy woodlands, reflecting an ecologically healthy and resilient state achievable through regenerative land management.
It is derived by taking the inferred TSN value of 'little-grazed' reference sites (~1875 mg/kg) and adjusting upward to reflect the positive soil-building effects of best-practice regenerative grazing.
